Palash Beej tree or ‘Pallas’, ‘Parsa’, ‘Dhaka’, ‘Tesu’ is one of the prominent flowering trees of India. The colors of Holi have been prepared from the flowers of this tree since ancient times. In the Rig-Veda, the special glory of ‘Som’, ‘Ashwattha’ and ‘Palash’ trees is described. It is said that the Palash tree is inhabited by Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, the main deities of the world.

Palash pods are shiny-gray, about 15 cm long, three to five cm in size, thin-flattened but thick at the joint. There are many hairs on the small pod which make her skin velvety.
